Sub B “Support for research and innovation activities of SMEs”
PROJECT TITLE: “Innovative services to drive farmers in the integrated crop protection and precision farming operations”
PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
The project carried out by Precision Testing S.R.L. aims to offer an innovative and modular service at the regional level, serving precision agriculture and integrated crop protection. This includes monitoring activities, analysis of collected data, and production of specific prescription maps for targeted applications (seeds, water, fertilizers, plant protection products), ensuring economic and environmental sustainability.
The
project involves the use of equipment and instruments equipped with satellite signal receivers for the
georeferencing of the data they collect or for precision application based on their position. In particular,
all soil mapping operations, crop monitoring with proximal sensors and with drones will be
georeferenced and agronomic operations will be carried out with tractors and combine harvesters equipped with GNSS systems for
semi-automatic RTK guidance and with ISOBUS equipment for precision applications.
Analytical data from satellites (e.g.: Copernicus Sentinel 2) will also be used, capable of providing information on the vegetative development of crops, of interest for agronomic decisions. This data (from which specific NDVI maps are obtained) is integrated with other data collected at the atmospheric and soil level (detected by probes and sensors installed on weather stations and dataloggers). The set of information forms the basis for the operation of DSS tools, such as services for farmers and industry technicians to support them in agronomic operations.
The service that Precision Testing S.R.L. intends to offer will be modular and flexible as it derives from a holistic interpretation of the data collected from the various monitoring activities and will be specific for each company and plot of land.
MAIN PLANNED INVESTMENTS:
The investments made in the project were divided into four key areas.
For soil and crop monitoring, advanced tools were introduced such as soil electrical conductivity scanners, hydraulic and undisturbed samplers, temperature and humidity sensors, weather stations, and equipment for assessing soil texture and physico-chemical characteristics.
For data analysis and processing, digital infrastructures were implemented, including a dedicated workstation and advanced software such as DJI Terra Pro, to support an analytical and integrated approach to agronomic management.
Precision applications were ensured by multifunctional drones equipped with thermal cameras and variable rate atomizers, tools that enabled targeted and optimized interventions directly in the field.
Finally, calibration services and tests were carried out to ensure the efficiency and precision of the equipment used, further improving the quality of interventions and the sustainability of agricultural practices.
